My parents spend their winters in Lake Havasu, Arizona. Havasu, as it’s called, is an outdoor playground. Off-road opportunities abound and memberships in the local jeep clubs number in the hundreds. I was lucky enough to do a club ride with my dad and the Lake Havasu Four Wheelers Club.
Our route for the day took us to through Parker to the Black Mesa Trail. It was a hilly route through some rough terrain, ancient lava fields, and changing desert landscapes. Eventually, we topped out on the Mesa itself which rises high above the valley floor and offers astounding views of the Bill Williams River and the city of Lake Havasu miles away. We lunched on the Mesa, and I must say, it was one of the prettiest lunch spots I’ve ever enjoyed.
The members of the club were a friendly group and welcomed this new tag along. One nice guy even let me place a GoPro mount on his back bumper – talk about accommodating! Thanks to him, and my very patient father, I was able to put together the following video. Enjoy.
